The purpose of this web
site is to help beat crime and possibly recover stolen marine
craft and prosecute persons responsible for the theft.
The
Stolen Marine Craft Register (Australia) fulfils the need for
a register of stolen marine craft.
Many
people
have had jet skis and boats stolen over the years,
which have never been seen since.
This sort of crime in
Queensland runs into multi millions of dollars each year and only a
very small percentage is recovered
After many months of research and
talking to the police and insurance companies, we realised that
there was no register for stolen marine craft - meaning if a
power boat or jet ski etc was offered for sale, there was no way to
determine if that craft was stolen
Our aim
is to deter the theft of marine craft in Australia and New
Zealand and to assist with its possible recovery and
prosecution of those responsible.
SMC Register is Copyrighted and
Trademarked in Australia and New Zealand.
We also have a Stolen Plant and Machinery
Register. . |
This is the process for
contributing to, or using the SMC Register:
Step 1 - Listing Stolen Marine Craft
Details required are:
Manufacturer, model, serial number and if possible outboard
motor and trailer details,
together with owner's details, insurance company and contact
details.
This information is then placed
on a data base for stolen marine craft.
This data base is only available
to SMC Register.
Step 2
- Searching the SMC Register
-
Any
person , company, government or council who wish to use the data
base to search for equipment will pay a fee for the search.

numbers supplied for the search reveal that the equipment was stolen
then you will be notified and so will the authorities.
|
With any
data base it is only as good as the information given and SMC
Register is looking for insurance companies, brokers , finance
companies to get in contact with us to get the data base going.
